Continuing a Legacy of Global Impact Through Engineering Education

The Mortenson Family Foundation is proud to join Alice Mortenson and Mortenson Construction in supporting the next chapter of the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering & Resilience at CU Boulder.

A new $10 million gift will help the center expand its work preparing engineers to collaborate with communities on critical global challenges. The investment will establish two endowed professorships and provide flexible funding for research, teaching, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Since its naming and endowment in 2009, the center has grown its reach to 30 countries and more than 80 global partners. Its students, faculty, and alumni work alongside communities to advance equitable, evidence-based solutions related to water security, sanitation, energy, food, sustainable infrastructure, and climate resilience.

This commitment builds upon the generosity and values of Mauritz “Mort” Mortenson Jr. and Alice Mortenson, whose belief in service, education, and giving back has guided the family’s longstanding relationship with CU Boulder.

We are grateful to see this partnership continue and excited about the lasting impact it will have on students, educators and communities.
