Mortenson Family Foundation is pleased to announce Twana Williams has joined the Foundation as the Office and Grants Program Coordinator. Twana brings more than 26 years of experience in philanthropy, including seven years specializing in grants management.
Twana grew up splitting her time between Chicago and Minnesota. Her early experiences as an exchange student in Peru fostered her love of travel and food. A parent of four adult children and 12 grandchildren, Twana’s core value of family shines through in her interactions with grant partners and the community.
Prior to joining Mortenson Family Foundation, Twana held roles at Otto Bremer Trust, Minnesota Council on Foundations, and Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation. She has served on various nonprofit boards, community initiatives, and committees, all of which provided services for women, children, and seniors.
“What drew me to Mortenson Family Foundation was its holistic approach to philanthropy—the recognition that building strong relationships and understanding root causes are as vital as the grants themselves. I am particularly excited to support grantmaking across the Foundation’s three areas of giving and support the team in work that challenges systemic inequality and strives for sustainable change,” Twana said.
“Twana’s depth and breadth of experience in office administration and grants management will be vital as the Foundation grows and we refine internal operations and processes,” said Sara Boedecker-Johnston, Organizational Development Director. “Her natural warmth and genuine enthusiasm make her the perfect first touchpoint for welcoming the community to our office.”
